2013 Lotus Exige S Roadster – Lotus is a British car manufacturer that is famous for building sports and racing cars. One of them is the Lotus Exige. Exige is a two-door, two-seat sports car produced in 2000. At the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, Lotus unveiled the latest update of the Exige, the Lotus Exige S 2013 Roadster. With a weight of only 2.447 lbs, the Exige S Roadster features the same design elements as the coupe, except for its factory-fitted soft top roof yhat makes the car looks even more muscular than the coupe.
On the exterior, there’s a new front splitter that eliminates the broken lines found on the previous models and newly designed headlamps. The coupe’s rear spoiler has also been removed to the make room for the factory-fitted soft top roof’s storage. The roof is lightweight and easy to put up and take down. in general, the Exige S Roadster gets a design that is relatively identical to the coupe models.
Moving inside, there are options that include a plush interior enhanced comfort, or a more stripped down, sporty option.
The 2013 Lotus Exige S Roadster is powered by the same engine found in the coupe model, which is a supercharged 3.5 V6 engine with race-derived technologies that delivers a total of 345 HP. This engine can take the car from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds and to 100 mph in 8.5 seconds. And because of it’s Roadster model, safety precautions requires Lotus to lower the top speed from 170 mph to 145 mph. The engine is supported with a standard six-speed manual gearbox, and also be available with Lotus’ Serial Precision Shift (SPS), a paddle-operated manual transmission automated the which makes driving a more relaxed experience in the city and, more F1-like when taken fast.
2013 Exige S Roadster comes with two different suspension settings: a standard suspension for an active driving experience suited for public roads and an optional setting as part of the Race Pack for maximum performance, developed for track roads. The launch control system can be activated when the car is in Race mode.
The new 2013 Lotus Exige S Roadster will not be available for the U.S. market, and is only marketed in Europe and Asia. The sport car is expected to be launched in 2013, and the prices will be announced closer to its market launch.
